Notes: Mary was almost three and family records indicate that Julia was only 1 at this time; they definitely are not twins. It is unknown why Margaret Crawford Hay is enumerated next door with her uncle's family. Margaret's mother is Sarah McNeeley Crawford, sister of this John McNeeley (both born in Pennsylvania in 1799 and 1797 respectively). My guess is that Margaret is on bedrest with a difficult pregnancy, or perhaps lost a baby -- there was a child Andrew Jackson who was born in Indiana and died at age three weeks -- I think this is the most logical time for this child in the birth order. Alternatively, perhaps John's wife Margaret McNeeley was ill, however, and needed help with the seven children (but with so many older children, I think this less likely). And clearly the "school during the year" check must be in error for Margaret. Robert and Margaret Crawford Hay will move their family to Illinois later this year, as does John McNeeley (the son, age 24) above.
